Samsung Widget SDK 1.2
Samsung proudly announces the latest release of the Samsung Mobile Widget SDK 1.2 (Beta).
The new Samsung Widget SDK now fully supports BONDI 1.01 feature, it has been in beta release since the 23rd March and will be closely followed by an full release version soon. Samsung Wave is first phone with the BONDI feature. The Samsung Widget SDK is a great tool to have in your development of cross platform widgets.
Providing the very best tools to developers the SDK is based around the open-source Esclipse platform, Developers who successfully build widgets are given the opportunity to relay their ideas directly to Samsung which can lead to inclusion on Samsung phones and inclusion in the Samsung Widget gallery or application store. BONDI SDK
The BONDI SDK project is an effort to develop and maintain an open source Web SDK based on the BONDI specifications. The objective of this project is to create an SDK that enables development of Web applications and widgets that can run across all mobile handsets supporting a BONDI-compliant Web runtime. The BONDI SDK project is being sponsored by the LiMo Foundation.
LG SDK 2.01 for Mobile Widgets
The LG SDK for Mobile Widgets allows developers to create widgets for LG mobile phones quickly and easily. The LG SDK for Mobile Widgets is based on the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) Widgets 1.0 specifications, supports a subset of the Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) BONDI 1.01 Approved Release, and includes some LG specific APIs. The LG mobile phone supporting installation of widgets created with the LG SDK will be available soon.
Perfecto Mobile testing service
Once you have created your widget using simple tools or a full SDK, you will need to test your widget on real devices. To do this, you can currently install the BONDI Reference Implementation onto a Windows Mobile device. The service from Perfecto Mobile (an OMTP advisor member) has a number of Windows Mobile devices running the BONDI reference implementation. You can use this service to test your widgets online and see how it works on a range of devices on different operators networks.
Issues
The IE Mobile browser shipped with Windows Mobile 5 and 6 devices has limitations which are important to note when writing AJAX applications. Information on these limitations, and some workarounds, are provided here.
